What PitchCalc calculates

The pitch calculator converts rise/run, angle, slope, and pitch multiplier. The roof area calculator finds sloped area and pre-waste squares. The rafter calculator solves right triangle geometry. The shingle calculator starts from known area, while the roofing calculator combines footprint or known area with waste-adjusted material quantities.

Who the tools are for

The tools are intended for homeowners, roofers, small contractors, estimators, and learners who need to check basic roof geometry or prepare a planning quantity. No professional credential is required to use them, and the result should still be checked by the person responsible for the work.

Maintenance and calculation checks

PitchCalc publishes roof-math software and explanatory examples. The contact for site maintenance and corrections is hello@pitchcalc.com. No licensed roofer or engineering sign-off is claimed for the results.

The shared calculation code has automated checks for pitch conversions, inverse triangle calculations, invalid inputs, waste, and whole-bundle rounding. The illustrated gable-roof example also shows a second way to check its area and links to the manufacturer's coverage value. Its roof dimensions and waste are teaching assumptions, not measurements from a customer project.

Calculations run in your browser

Calculator arithmetic, validation, copy, and print actions run in the browser. Measurements may appear in the URL hash so a result can survive a refresh or be shared; fragments are not part of the HTTP request.

Exact roof measurements are not sent with analytics events. The production site uses Google Analytics 4 for page usage and coarse event data. Hosting providers still keep operational logs. The Privacy page gives the current details without claiming the site collects no data at all.

Formula transparency

Inputs, formulas, rounding rules, pre-waste versus waste-adjusted square definitions, bundle behavior, assumptions, and validation limits are listed on the Methodology page. Calculator copy is written to match the same shared math engine.

Planning limits

PitchCalc is not satellite measurement, a contractor quote, structural or truss engineering, lumber sizing, a cut list, code approval, or a final material order. Complex roofs need plane-by-plane measurements. Waste, product coverage, accessories, labor, taxes, and local requirements must be confirmed for the actual project.

How the free site is supported

The calculators are free and require no account. Display advertising is not enabled, and the Google AdSense advertising script is not loaded. Publisher verification remains in place for a future application.

Google Analytics 4 remains in use. The Privacy page explains analytics, potential advertising identifiers, and available privacy choices.

Corrections and accessibility

Report an incorrect result, unclear formula, broken layout, or accessibility issue by emailing hello@pitchcalc.com or using the Contact page. Include the calculator URL, expected behavior, and browser or device, but do not send a home address or other personal information.
